The purpose of this part is to securely attach the battery to the plane, which powers the prop motor and electronics on board.
The architecture of the plane centers around a long carbon fiber rod, which all components attach. This design is very lightweight, strong, and modular. Constraints for the Battery mount are:
Attach to carbon fiber rod
Securely hold battery below the rod
Close enough to ECU and motor to connect wires
Minimize mass and cross sectional area where possible
The final design of the battery mount secures the battery in place with a bolt and nut, and slides onto the carbon fiber rod. It can easily be moved up and down the rod during assembly to change the center of mass. The battery carries a lot of mass, so its precise location is essential.
